The Big Production

from Home to Roast by Jet W. Lee

/

about

Wrote this after mangling what I thought sounded like a Radiohead riff. The words are about musician friends who I felt were giving up too soon. Admittedly now this track could benefit from a good shortening.

lyrics

You were talking bad about the big production
Can’t relate to the constant cast reduction
You don’t wanna be the only one who loves you more
Or you will lag behind to stay ahead of course

And in the morning when you wake up, drink your coffee
I read your novel cover to cover and every copy
Wander into the restaurant like a fool
Stare out at the waitress until she sees you drool

If you taste another penny in your pocket
Don’t you waste another moment as the prophet

When you see them out there on a new horizon
Let the willows fall and let all the widows weep
‘Cause like an out-paid actress you can play someone exciting
Or like a pillow you can put me right to sleep

And if you taste another penny in your pocket
Don’t you waste another moment as the prophet

You were talking bad about the big production
Can’t relate to the constant cast reduction
